After close to 18 months in early access development, Hopoo Games’ co-operative rogue-like shooter sequel Risk of Rain 2 will be getting its full version 1.0 Steam release on 11th August.
Risk of Rain 2 entered Steam early access back in March last year (it’s since made its way to Xbox One, PS4, and Switch), and was initially expected to get its full launch this spring. However, Hopoo made the decision to delay release by several months – the first deviation from its roadmap since early access began – after the community helped it flag “quite a few areas of improvement we could work on”.
Risk of Rain 2 has already been considered a success for Hopoo Games and Gearbox Publishing. This third-person roguelike shooter has already earned over one million sales within its first month in Steam Early Access since it launched last year. And now, Risk of Rain 2 will finally depart the Early Access period with its official launch later next month. By the way, you can buy cheap Risk of Rain 2 PC Steam CD Key from z2u.com, where you can enjoy a 3% discount by using the code “Z2U”.
The launch of the game will also see the rollout of the creatively-named Launch Update, which will add a new playable character called the Captain. A utility/damage character who packs a shotgun-rifle combo that stuns enemies and can be charged to narrow its shot spread, The Captain can also call in probes and beacons from the survivor’s orbiting dropship that will provide armor or healing zones for himself and his allies.
Risk of Rain 2 is currently available as an Early Access title on PC (Steam), Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. From now until the August 11th launch date, Risk of Rain 2 is available on Steam at the discounted price of $19.99, before going up to $24.99 after the official launch. All three console versions of Risk of Rain 2 are available now for $29.99 with no updates on whether pricing will change in the near future.
